City Council members of Bakersfield:

 

Thank you for responding to our concerns stated on the recent Change.org petition, https://www.change.org/p/city-of-bakersfield-bakersfield-tell-sister-city-bucheon-korea-that-we-re-opposed-to-torture-of-dogs-and-cats ,  about the mistreatment, torture, and consumption of dogs and cats in Bakersfield’s Sister City, Bucheon, S. Korea.  And the results given under  https://www.change.org/p/mayor-kim-man-soo-of-bucheon-all-thanks-to-mayor-kim-bucheon-city-working-towards-becoming-first-dog-meat-free-city !

 

We have been informed that Bucheon Mayor Man-Soon Kim will be visiting your city from November 2 through November 8, and we ask that you take this opportunity to urge Mayor Kim in person to take immediate action and close down the illegal dog meat industry, making his city the first “dog meat free city” in Korea.

 

This divisive issue requires both domestic and international pressure if we are to incite real change in South Korea.

 

I implore you to continue reaching out to your sister city until affirmative action is taken by Bucheon to permanently end the illegal and horrific dog meat industry.
